The Center of Social Innovation (CSI) educates the future leaders of social and environmental change at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Through their curriculum and experiential learning opportunities, CSI helps students develop innovative solutions to complex social and environment problems.

They reached out to our team to help develop a series of online learning modules that support social entrepreneurs in their journey to develop social ventures. Each module presents a new topic with content and learning materials that are unique to the subject matter. Our goal was to unify the modules by developing a content strategy and a visual language that could be used throughout the series.

My Approach

I created a design system that delivers a clean architecture and consistent patterns to display content; this also provided the flexibility to embed learning materials that are unique to the topic. Through rapid prototyping and user testing we learned that users use these modules as a resource to find specific information, examples, and templates. By using a consistent pattern to display information we were able to solidify the content structure and the information architecture for the entire series. In addition to this, we leveraged a single, dependable navigation source to make information effortlessly accessible for our users.

My approach for unifying the visual language was to develop a clean backdrop with minimal visual elements for the entire series. This allowed us to give each module a personalized color palette that is unique to its content and learning materials.
